Which is better ,the blue ray and the high definition power dvd? Many common users may not compare the small differences ,but indeed, they do have many advantages of themselves .
High definition dvd has a 15gb per layer (not per side) capacity, with the ability to encode a disc with up to 3 layers of data totally 51gb per disc,The issues between blu ray and hd dvd are complicated. it all started off as a sony project to use blue uv diodes to encode new dvds. everybody was on board, but there were deep differences between those who wanted to use the new blue uv diode lasers vs those who wanted to do something more traditional. then you have to add on programming language to use, a java based one, or a microsoft one. but…. after all the squabling and attempts to create one standard, the two sides split in 2005/2006 when toshiba came out with the first hd dvd player in march 2006.
So which do you think will win?although, it is too close to choose. you first have to consider what the software companies (microsoft and sun microsystems) will do… then you have to consider what the hardware manufacturers (sony, toshiba, hvc, hitachi) will do,and most importantly, you have to consider waht the major movie studios, who release the movies, will do. the movie studios will perhaps have the final say.
